Aubrey is playing Upward basketball this year through our church and it has been a really positive experience. Brian is the coach, and she loves that her dad is there. At the start, I could not imagine how these 5 and 6 year olds could actually play a game, but play they do! It is really well organized and fun. They have made amazing progress in such a short time. The kids not only learn the fundamentals of the game, but there is a huge focus on sportsmanship, which I think is so important at this age. I love that she wants to play, even if she isn't a great player, yet :). She is always smiling and bouncing down the court. Go Hornets!!!!!
As for little brother, he is yet again so anxious to be on a team like sister. He often practices with the team (thanks to the very patient coach) and doesn't do half bad! He was beyond thrilled when a friend recently handed down some clothes to him, which included an Upward jersey from last year. He hasn't taken it off since. Since he can't play in the games, he finds a place to entertain himself.
